Where do you think my vacation home resides, anyway? Earth? On land? Please.
After the extranet could spread to the International Space Station and Moonbase Alpha (at speeds that resemble what you would call ADSL, if I remember correctly. Do they have DSL yet in your time? Let me know.) we haven’t looked back. Commercial flights are commonplace and scheduled twice-daily. It’s still fairly nerve-racking and, prior to the inclusion of reliable Internet, somewhat tedious after a few days, but everyone I know cried during their first flight. I promised not to spoil anything, but I have to admit, the first time you actually see Earth, your heart will ache.
We still have ways to go. The Moon is still off-limits to the general public (Lunar dust and all), and occasionally the luggage tank is - you guess it - lost in space, which is both awesome and bothersome. We haven’t yet stopped laughing at the space elevator, so it’ll still be a while before anyone starts on that. In short, we have ways to go. No space cowboys, but I will keep you posted.
